Juna Ariyoshi is a typical Japanese schoolgirl with a childlike curiosity and a strong appreciation for nature. Juna is killed in a motorcycle accident while on a trip with her boyfriend, Tokio Oshima. An individual named Chris Hawken, on the other hand, gives her a chance to live. He grants her powers that transform her into the avatar of time; in exchange, she must fight to protect the Earth from evil forces known as raaja, which are born of the toxic pollution caused by humans. She quickly realizes that this is not going to be an easy task. While attempting to master her newfound abilities, she must also seek answers to deep questions about how science and technology have eroded humans' primal and instinctive connections with the natural world.
