The Taira clan, often known as the Heike, has enormous power in Japan. When a little girl, endowed with an unusual eye that allows her to see into the future, offends the clan, her father pays the price with his life. As destiny would have it, Taira no Shigemori, the clan leader's eldest son, comes into the same poor girl, who now names herself "Biwa," and warns him that the Heike's demise is impending. Shigemori promises to take Biwa in and care for her after learning of the severe injustice she endured at the hands of Heike. In a moment of growing military tension, the Heike are engaged in a devious plot.
