Hidamari Sketch is about a young girl called Yuno who is finally admitted into Yamabuki Art High School, which she had aspired to attend for a long time. Yuno relocates to a modest apartment building across the street from the school called the Hidamari Apartments (, Hidamari-s) in order to attend school. She rapidly becomes friends with the other three residents of the flats, including Miyako, a classmate, and two second-year students, Hiro and Sae. The characters' daily lives are depicted as they attend school together and grow to know one another better. The girls move up a year and two freshmen, Nazuna and Nori, come to Hidamari Apartments after a year. Hiro will be a year older once another year has passed.
