Taichi Nishimura, a regular high school student, and his childhood buddy Rin Azuma are on their way to school one typical morning. A dazzling light envelops them, sending them to a fantastical realm teeming with mystical creatures. When Taichi and Rin arrive, they are confronted by a beast. They are quickly rescued by a party of adventurers, who warn the two that going unarmed and unskilled exposes them to the lately increased monster assaults. Taichi and Rin are led to the Guild, where they can test their magical abilities and register as adventurers. However, the test they perform yields an unexpected result: Taichi and Rin possess amazing powers much exceeding those of the average magician, quickly changing them from ordinary high school students to the ultimate wizard.
