Ryou Machiko's late grandmother had taught her that the route to becoming a good wife began with being a good chef. Ryou's culinary talents are unrivaled for a middle schooler; nevertheless, while Ryou's food looks and smells excellent, the flavor has recently been lacking. Just as the depressed art student is preparing to accept the possibility of living alone for the rest of her life, her aunt informs her that Kirin Morino, Ryou's second cousin, will begin staying with her every weekend now that the younger girl has enrolled in a cram school in Tokyo and hopes to attend the same school as Ryou. Surprisingly, with the arrival of her cousin, Ryou discovers that her cooking has considerably improved—apparently, it is her cousin's fault.
