Homura Suzuko, a high school girl, has returned to her hometown of Ikebukuro. "We're friends forever!" She cherishes her childhood memories of Morikawa Chinatsu, and she's thrilled at the idea of seeing her again. When she arrives at school, however, she discovers that she does not fit in with the rest of the class. She thinks one day that if she learns to play the card game WIXOSS, she might be able to meet some new people. On her way home, she stops at a card shop and purchases a deck set. When she gets home and opens the set, the girl on one of the cards starts to move and talk.
