Marion is a young kid who takes pleasure in adhering to an ideology he refers to as "rationalism." Because he despises emotional expression, he dismisses anything like tenderness. However, when he becomes involved in a love relationship with an older courtesan, his logic is revealed to be nothing more than a mask for his own emotional immaturity. Marion blooms as he learns to love under the care of his elder lover, but he has yet to realize the actual cost of the romance.
