In times of need, if you look in the correct area, you can come upon an unusual phone number written in red. When you call this number, a young man introduces himself as the Yato God. Yato is a minor god and self-proclaimed "Delivery God" who wishes to be worshiped by millions. However, without a single shrine devoted to his name, his ambitions are unlikely to be accomplished. He spends his days doing odd chores for five yen apiece, until his weapon partner becomes tired of her useless master and abandons him. Just as the god's fortunes appear to be bleak, a middle school girl, Hiyori Iki, allegedly saves Yato from a vehicle accident.
