The British Empire grew to become a worldwide force in the late nineteenth century. The typical citizen has little chance of successfully ascending to the top, where the filthy nobility governs over them all, due to the rigid class stratification. William James Moriarty, the Moriarty family's second son, is a young mathematics professor who has shown exceptional cunning and brilliance since he was a toddler. He enjoys the easy life of a nobleman with his brothers Albert and Louis. Outside of school, William is a well-known private consultant eager to help anybody in need. His calm attitude, however, conceals his position as the leader of a group willing to cause devastation in pursuit of its desire—the creation of a new planet.
